Seven Dials Food Market
Size: 2,200 sq m
Status: Completed Summer 2019
This is the first bricks and mortar site for KERB, Seven Dials Market.
The site covers the ground floor and basement of the old Thomas Neal Warehouse in Covent Garden. Restaurants are housed in the basement with market stalls and cafes on the ground floor with a large light well over the central space bringing natural light into both floors.
Sustainability is high on the list of requirements with the space housing a Rothenberg Storage Unit that holds all wet food before it is sent to anaerobic digester and converted into electricity.
The building is an old warehouse originally used for the storage of bananas and cucumbers. More recently it housed a brewery and subsequently a clothes and jewellery market. The designs took their cues from the history of the site. The new look food hall, modern in design, is the most centrally located situated in the heart of London with kitchens changing throughout the year offering new experiences on each visit.
