Young City Makers 2025

News — 02 May 2025

Stiff+Trevillion are proud to support the 2025 Young City Makers programme, an initiative from the organisers of Open City. Once again, S+T are partnering with Year 4 pupils at Edward Wilson Primary School in Westminster. This year the theme is Play and it encourages pupils to think about where, how and who can play. Play should not be confined to playgrounds or private spaces such as gardens, living rooms, or balconies—it should be woven into the fabric of everyday life, accessible to all.

Young City Makers is an inter-school design challenge consisting of two in-school workshops and one field trip. The programme prioritises the experiences and ideas of young participants, particularly in how they engage with the built environment. These workshops give professional volunteers the opportunity to shift traditional adult-child power dynamics by positioning young people as the experts. This creates avaluable learning experience for everyone involved.
