On the shortlist, City Building of the Year 2025

News — 19 May 2025

Stiff+Trevillion have two buildings on this year's City Building of the Year awards shortlist, 41 Lothbury and Woolgate.

Unlike most awards, the nominees are selected by the City of London Planning department and are organised by The Architects Company (WCCA). The Awards seek to recognise innovative design opportunities and solutions created in response to the heritage of the City of London, conservation area constraints and emerging context of new architecture. The awards recognise the contribution made to placemaking in the City, the quality of the architectural endeavour as well as the environmental standards achieved.

Both projects are significant refurbishment schemes, one a listed building requiring a sensitive intervention, the other a vast post-modern style merchant bank constructed in 2000. Woolgate completed in January 2025 and 41 Lothbury is due to finished in the early autumn. Best of luck to both projects.
