Arding & Hobbs wins National RIBA Award

News — 09 Jul 2026

Today, Arding & Hobbs for W.RE was recognised in the National RIBA Awards 2026.  This project showcases the meticulous restoration, refurbishment, and extension of a landmark Grade II Listed building, originally a purpose-built department store from 1910, situated at the heart of Clapham Junction.

The RIBA jury was particularly impressed by the project’s disciplined approach to reuse. Rather than undermining or overshadowing the existing structure, the architects have retained and celebrated its historic fabric, revealing original brickwork, stone and stained glass with restraint and precision.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Arding & Hobbs has been given this national award. It was a real labour of love to bring this beautiful building back to life and to have this recognised by the RIBA judges is a huge honour,” Lance Rouch, Director, Stiff+Trevillon.

Arding & Hobbs was one of 32 winners selected from 126 regional RIBA finalists.
